Heirloom Pear Shaped Yellow Diamond Ring

We love heirloom rings, and even more so, love hearing the anecdotes that go along with them.  Today's ring is a pear shaped yellow diamond that has been passed down from mother to daughter.  Its vintage feel and unique setting is definitely eye catching.

Also called a teardrop, pear shaped diamonds are a combination of round or oval and marquis cut - with one side of the stone rounded, and the other tapered. Brilliant cut pears usually have 58 facets, and sparkle nearly as much as the more common round diamond.  Some even say that pear shaped diamonds enhance the length of the finger.

Setting: 14K yellow gold, Light Fancy, Golden Champagne Color, with 6 round full cut diamonds on each side.

A Jewelry Story: My father gave it to my mother in the 80s (I remember her going into the store many times looking at it and longing for it.) She wore it every day on her right hand and after she died it is the only ring of hers that I've sized to fit my hand (she had TINY hands) and sadly, I've only found a few occasions to wear it.

Round Brilliant Engagement Ring with Micro Pave Halo + Wedding Bands

This morning, we have a great look for you..and one we may have to steal!  These rings belong to one of our friends and we have always thought it was so unique that she wore four bands as her wedding ring! Turns out, two of the bands are her actual wedding bands, and the two curvy rings are inexpensive pieces that she uses to layer and accessorize! As a new Mom, she wanted something a little more wearable, while still being stylish, and we love it!

She shared a picture of her bands with her engagement ring - a round brilliant encircled by a halo of micro paves.  Wow!

RingSpotters: A Wine Country Wedding

Today we would like to feature a wedding of one of our RingSpotter brides. We showcased her gorgeous radiant rings in May, and now we have the photographs from her breathtaking wedding at the Firestone Vineyards in Los Olivos, California. Here are the rings on her big day...

 

The bride also sent us some of her favorite photos from the wedding. The photographer, Katie Moos, did a fabulous job capturing the incredible detail that went into creating such a fresh, bright, and intimate setting. The couple married on an expansive lawn overlooking the valley and vineyards underneath the most beautiful Oak tree. Flowers, done by Santa Barbara florist Modern Day Design were just stunning. As you can gather from the pictures, this bride has impeccable taste.  

 

 

Fun tidbit about this wedding:  Two photographs from this wedding (the bridesmaid's bouquet and the cake shown above) appeared in the movie "Its Complicated".  

Hearts on Fire Engagement Ring with Pave Band

This morning's ring belongs to a bride who recently got engaged on July 1st!  When her man opened the box out came this gorgeous Hearts on Fire Diamond with a Tacori mounting. Luckily, this lady's fiance is a fourth generation jeweler at his family's jewelry business, Rumanoff's in Hamden, Connecticut.  This ring looks absolutely stunning from the pictures...we can only imagine how it must look in person!

Tension Engagement Rings

We've been hearing a lot about Tension settings recently and while they're not common, they are certainly unique. A tension ring uses pressure, instead of prongs or other mountings to hold the diamond (or gemstone) in place, making it seem like the diamond is floating in the air.  Since the 1960s, many argue that the tension setting is even more secure than a four or six prong setting, and can last over a hundred years without a loss of pressure.

A 90210 Wedding

We watched Beverly Hills 90210 religiously growing up. We watched 90210 rerun marathons throughout college. We even gave the new 90210 an honest shot. So we were beyond excited when we saw this "wedding teaser video" made for a San Francisco couple who will be getting hitched on "10210". Make sure you turn the volume on!

About the video

When we were in grade school, we all watched 90210.  It was one of those shows (like Saved by the Bell) that had a huge influence on us.  The theme song for the show, in addition to the intro video montage are unforgettable. As we were planning for our Engagement Party, we wanted to do something fun and creative that showcased our Bridal Party and teased the wedding.  We shot everything in one day.  We had the 90210 and Saved by the Bell theme songs on repeat throughout the shoot.   

It was “premiered” at our engagement party this past October.

And how could they have a 90210-themed video without class pictures? Congrats to the beautiful, happy and oh so creative couple... and we hope to be able to share pictures of the big day with our RingSpotters!

Cushion Cut Engagement Ring

Today's beauty belongs to a Santa Barbara native who will be celebrating her wedding in June of 2011. She fell in love with the setting at a jewelry store in Santa Barbara (same place her mom's ring is from - so cool!) and her fiance picked out the fabulous cushion cut center diamond.  "I loved the ring because it was very different from any other ring I had seen.  We had been looking for awhile."

Ringspotters loves this ring too.  Let us count the ways...  
1) The cushion cut center diamond just draws your eyes in and we can't seem to stop looking at it.  
2)  The double halo of paves are simply stunning  (we can't help but belt out a little Beyonce when we look at it)
3) The triple band just brings it all together and creates such a unique look  
4)  There are 126 diamonds in the setting. 

We have never seen anything quite like it!

An Engagement Story: "It was a beautiful night in SF in April, we had champagne on our roof deck, and then headed to our favorite neighborhood restaurant.  When we arrived, the entire staff knew what was about to happen and were standing in a line greeting us as we came in.  It was really cute, but I was still clueless.  We sat in the private room with our favorite server.  We went ate dinner, paid, and I got up to use the restroom.  When I came back, I thought we were leaving, so I put on my jacket, but Andrew asked me to sit down and take off my jacket.  Then he got down on one knee and proposed!  He had planned for all of our friends to meet us out to celebrate!  It was the best night!!"
