In 1907 the largest diamond ever found in the world was called the Cullinan diamond, also known as the Great Star of Africa, which was later cut for the crown jewels of Great Britain. Royal Asscher, the artists behind this epic 530 carat diamond (oringinaly 3,105 carats), have paid tribute to the legend with their collection “Stars of Africa”, a beautifully designed ring, with mini diamonds suspended in a dome shaped glass filled with fluid. The floating diamonds is a newer trend among jewelry and diamond enthusiasts, and Royal Asscher’s elegant design is not only an eye-catching piece of jewelry, but an opportunity to be socially responsible.
Through Royal Asscher's partnership with The Seven Bar Foundation, for every Star of Africa ring purchased through Seven Bar Foundation’s website, fifty percent of the proceeds will go towards fueling microfinance loans for women. The purpose is to empower women out of poverty, and give them the tools they need to start their own business, both stimulating the economy and their own dreams and aspirations.
