We just love hearing back from our RingSpotter brides. Last June, we featured her stunning Hearts on Fire engagement ring, and today we have the photos from her January 8, 2011 Bangkok wedding. The ceremony took place at the Assumption Cathedral followed by a lavish, elegant reception at the Peninsula, Bangkok. We love her eternity wedding band, the Mother of the Bride's ring, and the fact that the bride and groom used a sword to cut the cake. Wow!

The holidays are the time for engagements, and this year has proven to be no exception. Reese Witherspoon announced her engagement to Jim Roth, who proposed with an Ashoka diamond (a modified version of the cushion cut) set in patinum with a delicate pave band, similar to the one pictured below.

This morning's ring belongs to a bride who recently got engaged on July 1st! When her man opened the box out came this gorgeous Hearts on Fire Diamond with a Tacori mounting. Luckily, this lady's fiance is a fourth generation jeweler at his family's jewelry business, Rumanoff's in Hamden, Connecticut. This ring looks absolutely stunning from the pictures...we can only imagine how it must look in person!

The Circle is one of the most important and significant symbols that has been adapted by cultures, both ancient and modern; it represents unity, infinity and wholeness. Not surprisingly, rings have been worn as a symbol of betrothal for centuries. The Egyptians were the first to wear the ring on the fourth finger of the left hand, where the "vein of love" supposedly connects straight to the heart.
The very first diamond engagement ring was given to Mary of Burgundy in 1477 from the Archduke Maximilian of Austria, but it was only during the 19th century when an extensive supply of diamonds were found in Africa (allowing them to be more affordable and attainable), that diamonds began appearing in engagement rings.
In 1886, Tiffany introduced the six prong solitaire diamond engagement ring and this classic Tiffany setting remains one of the most popular engagement ring styles today. After poking around the Tiffany's website, we were reminded of one of the most fabulous movie proposal scenes ever, which I think we all need to watch again.
